Welcome to my new blog. My daughter keeps telling me I need to be more present on the internet, and this will do it! My name is Cindy and Maggie is my new puggle puggy. I am a recent breast cancer patient / survivor and this blog will hopefully keep my friends and interested parties informed on my status. Phone calls are great, but repetition is not, so in the name of efficiency, I will be using this new technology! Maggie is my indulgence and distraction to bring joy to a life sometimes bogged down with the doctor’s appointments and meds (thus the other 1/2 of my blog title!)

A brief background, I am a married 53 year old mother of twin daughters 25 years old. My mother had a history of breast cancer (one at 49, another at 69), so I have always been aware of my heightened risk. Therefore I have been diligent with checkups and taking good care of myself. Exercise, competitive sports, eating healthy, vitamins, regular mammography, staggered gyno appts so that you are manually checked 2X a year (a good idea for all). The universe had other plans, and despite all those precautions, lightening struck in June of this year.
Please everyone, remain ever aware of your health calendar and needs, as the one up side to this is, I caught it early. Get regular mammograms! Please visit site www.thebreastcancersite.com to click for free mammos, information and support.
In the following entries, I will briefly outline the journey I have been on since then, and try to continue to update it as I progress forward. Photos of me will be minimal (especially after the hair falls out!), but I will throw ones in of Maggie to keep it entertaining. My daughter rates her world in her blog, but seems a bit unnecessary here. Cancer is a zero – period – how you chose to attack it can be anything but. In her words, I will continue to try to ‘Live for the 10’s!’
HI, Cindy: I’m so sorry I haven’t written to you before – Angie forwarded on your blog and I have been touched reading it. You are truly my hero – it has been almost 16 years since my breast cancer, but I totally still recall the incredible exhaustion!! And here you are walking for the cause, volleyball, and coaching — GO YOU!! You and all the family are in my thoughts and prayers so often. Keep up the great work and attitude – it WILL work out for you! LOVE – Wendy
Hey Cindy,
So sorry to hear of your plight but if anyone can fight through this, it is YOU girl. Keep up the good work and I’ll be in touch. Love and prayers to all of you.
